List College at the Jewish Theological Seminary

INTRODUCING THE YASCHIK/ARNOLD JEWISH STUDIES-LIST COLLEGE PROGRAM

The Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program at the College of Charleston has just concluded a bilateral agreement with List College, the undergraduate college of the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) in New York City. For over 125 years, JTS has functioned as the academic and spiritual center of Conservative Judaism, and a major center for academic scholarship in Jewish Studies. In addition to operating multiple graduate programs, JTS partners with Columbia University and Barnard College as the Albert A. List College of Jewish Studies.

Beginning in the spring of 2014, students at the College of Charleston will be able to take full advantage of this partnership. Students accepted for the one-semester program at List will pursue a rich and rigorous academic program that will include one course in modern Hebrew language, one course in Hebrew Bible, one course in rabbinics, and two elective courses in Jewish history, literature, thought, or liturgy. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to take advantage of the depth and breadth of Jewish Studies offerings at JTS, and to experience life in New York City, while paying College of Charleston tuition and getting College of Charleston credit for their coursework.

Students wishing to apply for Spring 2014 should indicate their interest to Dr. Martin Perlmutter, Director, Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program.
