A native of suburban Maryland, Mark Swick joined the Jewish Studies Program in July 2012 as Jewish Community Liaison. In this position, Mark oversees the various non-academic components related to Jewish Studies’ mission. Mark is responsible for creating and maintaining relationships between the Jewish Studies Program and Charleston’s Jewish community, as well as overseeing all community courses and programming, executing Jewish Studies annual campaign, and partnering on major development initiatives. Mark also serves as Executive Director of the Jewish Historical Society of South Carolina, an active state-wide membership organization housed within the Jewish Studies Program.

A graduate of Indiana University, Mark spent two years as an Education Fellow for the Institute of Southern Jewish Life in Jackson, MS before moving to Charleston. He is married to a CofC alumna, Ellen, who manages the College’s Costume Shop and is an adjunct professor in the Department of Theater and Dance.
